X-Men producer Hutch Parker has come aboard Venom 2, bringing more Marvel expertise to the upcoming Sony project.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Parker has joined the Venom sequel as a producer, alongside Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman apparently brought Parker aboard months ago, likely due to his history with Marvel films.

Parker joined the extended Marvel universe with 2003's X2: X-Men United as an executive. He eventually started producing at Fox, working on X-Men: Days of Future PastFantastic Four and this year's Dark Phoenix.

With Venom director Ruben Fleischer working on Zombieland: Double Tap, Andy Serkis will be taking the reins as director on Venom 2. The film will see the return of Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and Michelle Williams as Anne Weying. We also learned recently that Woody Harrelson will be back as Cletus Kasady from the post-credits scene of the first Venom, potentially setting up Carnage as the villain of the sequel.
