With Venom 2 currently in the middle of principal photography, additional plot details from the film have begun to surface, indicating the introduction of a familiar asylum for the criminally insane: The Ravencroft Institute.

In a scoop from entertainment reporter DanielRPK's Patreon, serial killer Cletus Kasady will be imprisoned in the facility awaiting execution for his crimes. As teased in the post-credits scene to the 2018 film, the Ravencroft Institute has been moved from its comic book location in New York to California, fitting the Bay Area setting of the previous film. The facility was previously introduced in 2014's Amazing Spider-Man 2, imprisoning Electro before his breakout by Harry Osborn.

Prior to his execution, Kasady escapes with fellow inmate Frances Louise Barrison, portrayed by Naomie Harris, to embark on a new murder spree, with Eddie Brock pursuing the pair of natural born killers as they undergo their own symbiote-fueled transformations into Carnage and Shriek, respectively.

Created by Tom DeFalco and Ron Lim in 1991's Spectacular Spider-Man #178, the Ravencroft Institute incarcerated Cletus after he bonded to the Carnage symbiote. As he escaped to launch an attack on the Marvel universe in Maximum Carnage, he broke out Shriek to accompany him. The facility was later destroyed during the events of the recent crossover Absolute Carnage.
