Sony Pictures has released a new official poster for its upcoming Marvel film Venom: Let There Be Carnage, the sequel to 2018's Venom.

The poster prominently features Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock; Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady; Naomie Harris as Frances Barrison, aka Shriek; and Michelle Williams as Anne Weying. Eddie and Cletus' respective alter egos, Venom and Carnage, loom large in the background. The latter also occupies the bottom portion of the poster.

It should also be mentioned that the new Let There Be Carnage poster affirms the film's Oct. 15 release date. This is of note, as a recent report claimed that Sony was planning to push the Venom sequel back to Jan. 21, 2022 -- the date currently occupied by the studio's next Marvel spinoff film, Morbius. That said, this claim was seemingly debunked by a subsequent report. The film was originally scheduled for release back in October of 2020, though ended up being delayed as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Picking up after the events of the previous film, Let There Be Carnage follows Eddie Brock as he continues to adjust to his new life as the host of the Venom symbiote. Eddie attempts to reignite his career in journalism by interviewing notorious serial killer Cletus Kasady. Things go horribly awry when Cletus becomes the host of the deadly Carnage symbiote, Venom's offspring. Harrelson made a cameo as Cletus in which he teased his transformation into carnage during the mid-credits scene of the first Venom movie.

Let There Be Carnage is directed by Andy Serkis, who takes over for Venom director Ruben Fleischer. In addition to Hardy and Harrelson reprising their roles as Eddie and Cletus, respectively, the sequel is also set to feature the return of Williams as Anne, Reid Scott as Dan Lewis and Peggy Lu as Mrs. Chen.

The film also features a number of newcomers, including Harris as Cletus' love interest, Frances Barrison, better known as the Marvel Comics villain Shriek, who was a major player in the Maximum Carnage storyline. Meanwhile, Stephen Graham joins the cast as Detective Mulligan, who appears to be Marvel Comics' Patrick Mulligan, the eventual host of Carnage's offspring, Toxin. Additionally, Sean Delaney and Larry Olubamiwo have been cast in undisclosed roles.
