Venom: Let There Be Carnage director Andy Serkis says he has ideas for a potential third movie starring the Lethal Protector, should such a thing happen.

During an interview with CBR, Serkis was asked if he would be willing to return to the Venom franchise in some capacity for the aforesaid potential third film, as well as where he would like to take the character's story. "Wow, that's a really amazing question," Serkis replied. "I'm not sure I can answer all of that, but I can tell you that I had such a great time making this that... if it works out that way and there is another one, of course! It'd be amazing to work on another one."

Serkis added that he was aware that franchise star Tom Hardy and writer Kelly Marcel were "thinking about a trilogy arc" some time ago. Hardy had previously stated that he was "deeply invested" in making more Venom sequels, adding that if Let There Be Carnage is successful, "there is another one to do." During its opening night, the film brought in $11.6 million dollars at the box office, though it has garnered lukewarm reviews from critics.

"We'll just have to see what happens," Serkis concluded. "But yeah, I mean, I have a few ideas of my own, but I certainly wouldn't be bold enough to put them out there right now."

Directed by Andy Serkis, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is now theaters.
