Venom 2 may lean more into horror elements, as behind-the-scenes photos show director Andy Serkis filming at what looks to be a decrepit orphanage.

Two behind-the-scenes photos were released on Twitter by Geeks WorldWide editor Thomas Polito. One shows Andy Serkis directing in the cold, while the other features an old metal sign with the name of an orphanage. The photos were originally posted by Venom star Tom Hardy on Instagram.

There is no official word on the plot of Venom 2, but these behind-the-scenes photos could be hinting that the film will dive into Cletus Kasady/Carnage's past. In the comics, Kasady is depicted as an orphan and was raised in a place called the St. Estes Home for Boys.

Carnage was teased at the end of the first Venom film, which released on October 1, 2018. The character was played by Woody Harrelson, who will reprise his role in the sequel. Other announced cast members for the film include Michelle Williams, Reid Scott and Naomie Harris. Stephen Graham of Netflix's The Irishman was also recently announced for a mystery role.

It has been reported that the film's star Tom Hardy has already signed on for the third installment of Venom.

Directed by Andy Serkis and starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Venom 2 is scheduled for release on Oct. 2, 2020.
