There are a lot of Dragon Ball characters that have appeared throughout the ages that have become fan favorites. From the original run of the series to Super, it seems that there will always be more cast members to join the ranks of iconic characters like Goku, Gohan, Krillin, Piccolo, and more.

One of the earliest examples of this is, of course, Vegeta, the Saiyan Prince. Vegeta was the first true match when it came to popularity for Goku, being so popular that Toriyama kept him around for longer than intended. However, even the most popular characters like Vegeta have their faults.

10 His Pride is one of the reasons that he couldn't get along with Goku

One word that fans think of when discussing Vegeta is "pride." This word constantly came out of Vegeta's mouth early in the series when he wanted nothing more but to be known as the strongest, just as he was raised to believe.

This is one of the reasons that he couldn't get along with Goku no matter what the two went through. No matter the opponent or character that he was met with, if they seemed stronger than him or showed any hint of it, Vegeta wouldn't be a fan.

9 his drive has pushed him to do some of the most foolish things in the series

Vegeta's drive is one of the things that drew so much hate. His unstoppable and unshakable drive could be felt when he engaged in absolutely anything. This drive has pushed him to do some of the most foolish things in the series and push himself to limits that could very well be his end.

One example of this was when he wanted nothing more than to surpass Frieza, forcing himself to reach a zenkai boost via Krillin, nearly ending his life and blowing a hole through his torso.

8 Vegeta would do anything & risk anything to get a new challenge

Another branch of personality that comes from that drive is Vegeta's constant hunger for challenge. Much like Goku, Vegeta was once a lot more selfish and would do anything and risk anything to get a new challenge.

The most famous example of this was the fact that he allowed Cell to pass his second form and jump into his Perfect form by absorbing Android 18. This not only allowed Cell to easily defeat Vegeta but eventually led to his son's death.

7 no matter who he faced, His Arrogance led him to believe that he was vastly superior despite the reality of the situation

Vegeta once was the most arrogant of all Dragon Ball characters, barring those of the likes of Frieza and Cell. No matter who he faced, he felt that he was vastly superior despite the reality of the situation.

This not only comes from his Saiyan heritage, but his royalty past. Vegeta was born and raised to be the best and was taught over and over that nothing was in his way of being the best because that's what he was born for.

6 His Underestimation of Opponents, even some of the strongest beings in the Dragon Ball universe

Once upon a time, Vegeta always would underestimate his opponents. This is seen as early as his first battle with the "low-class" Saiyan, Goku. During this battle, he believed that Goku's power level was nowhere near his, simply because he believed it so.

This was only the first look at how far Vegeta's underestimation could go. Of course, it continued on into the Frieza Saga, with the Saiyan Prince even underestimating the likes of one of the strongest beings in the Dragon Ball universe.

5 His Aggressive Nature is the reason that he had nothing but enemies

Vegeta is one of the most aggressive characters in the entirety of Dragon Ball, from the earliest arc in the series to the most recent.

This is not only one of the reasons that Vegeta never truly had friends early on, but also the reason that he had nothing but enemies, as seen with his relationship with characters like Nappa.

4 His Inferiority Complex has made Vegeta one of the most sensitive & easy to break characters in the series

A combination of his character traits resulted in his inferiority complex. This complex has made Vegeta one of the most sensitive and easy to break characters in the series.

However, he's overcome this complex many times. Sadly, he's also fell back into it as well.

3 His Obsession with being known as the strongest

Vegeta has an obsession with being known as the strongest, which is one of his most fatal flaws. No matter what, he can't help but want to surpass Goku.

This is another flaw that he overcame in the Buu Saga but has fallen right back into with the start of the Dragon Ball Super series.

2 His Heritage Obsession is what resulted in most of his worst traits

Another obsession of Vegeta's is his obsession with his past and his heritage.

While he has passed this and left it behind, earlier in Dragon Ball he made it his main drive. This obsession with being born the prince of a powerful warrior race is what resulted in most of his worst traits.

1 His Egotistic Nature resulted in Cell's loss to Gohan

One of Vegeta's worst traits and a fatal flaw of the Saiyan is the fact that he has a gigantic ego.

This not only resulted in his downfall many times from the likes of Frieza and the androids, but also resulted in Cell's loss to Gohan.
