Vault Comics has dropped sci-fi novelist Myke Cole's comics debut, Hundred Wolves, following accusations of sexual misconduct.

In a Twitter thread regarding inappropriate behavior from comics professionals in convention settings, comics creator Cara McGee tweeted on June 23, "Hey while I'm here, how about that time Myke Cole spent an evening leering at me at the ECCC bar, trying to pull me onto his lap, and told me he wanted to piss on me, until another SFF writer tore into him for being a creep."

Game designer Kate Welch shared her own thread on June 25 regarding Cole's alleged misconduct. Welch stated that she dated Cole in mid-2018. In addition to remarking on his inappropriate behavior with her and other women, she also noted racist language used by Cole and posted a screenshot of a transphobic comment he made in a direct message exchange.

Cole was previously named in a School Library Journal thread listing men with an alleged history of inappropriate behavior and sexual misconduct, which he addressed in a February 2018 post on his blog. Following McGee's tweet, he posted a Twitter thread on June 23 in which he linked to that apology again.

Cole tweeted, in part, "I've tried to apologize to women I've harmed or made uncomfortable, but as today's statement makes clear, I do not remember or recognize all cases where I've acted so out of bounds. Which is not a defense, nor does it diminish my responsibility." He continued, "I remember socializing with this person around 6 years ago, but I don’t remember the incident she’s describing or I would have apologized already. Making the industry safe and inclusive for women is important to me, and I've failed badly in the past."

He noted he has since entered therapy, limited his drinking in groups and reduced his convention attendance. Welch contradicted these claims in her own tweets: "in private, Myke discredits the veracity of his victim's complaints (even claiming that she wasn't attractive enough for him to have hit on her) and rails bitterly about his ruined reputation. he has not sought therapy. at that time, at least, he had not stopped drinking."

Vault Comics announced Cole's Hundred Wolves series, with art by Tony Akins, colors by Vladimir Popov, letters by Jim Campbell and design by Tim Daniel, in January. The first issue was slated for release in September, following delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In its official press release, the publisher simply stated, "Vault Comics will no longer be publishing Hundred Wolves from writer Myke Cole."
