Vault, in collaboration with World of Darkness, Vampire: The Masquerade will see Winter's Teeth, a comic book series set in the Twin Cities. The variant covers for its first number will be created by David Mack (Kabuki, Echo, Daredevil).

Winter's Teeth follows Cecily Baine, a tough-as-nails enforcer for the Twin Cities Camarilla Prince. Cecily will have to take a mysterious fledgling under her wing while she unravels a mystery that could destroy vampire society as she knows it.

David Mack's first variant cover will have a backsplash of blue and purple aquarelles, while his special variant will be blood-red and silver-foiled, and will retail for 9.99 USD. Mack is well known for his experimental approach to comic-book illustration, where he mixes techniques, media and materials, combining character's recollections and memories with the action, and forcing readers to analyze the same event from multiple perspectives.

The lady in red in his variant covers is dressed with a gown embroidered with the maxims of the Masquerade: "You forgot the first rule of the Masquerade. The Masquerade is everything. Keeps us safe," suggesting her connection to the Camarilla, the vampiric sect most concerned with hiding vampire society from humans.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Winter's Teeth #1 is co-written by Tim Seeley, Tini Howard and Blake Howard, illustrations by Dev Pramanik, Nathan Gooden and Addison Duke; with covers by Aaron Campbell, David Mack and Nathan Gooden. It will be available on Aug. 5.
