October is fast approaching, and with it, the need to indulge in the spooky and macabre. While there are plenty of horror series to enjoy during this season, such as Junji Ito's seemingly endless catalogue of work, or horror anime classics like Higurashi: When They Cry, there are other supernatural anime and manga deserving of a spot on anime fan's Halloween watchlist.

For anime fans not as keen on staying frightened throughout the Halloween season, there is a series that ticks all the boxes of the perfect spooky series that situates itself as a slice-of life comedy. The Vampire Dies In No Time, a supernatural comedy following the daily life of a vampire lord and vampire hunter, is the perfect comedy anime to enjoy this Halloween. Treating itself as an absurdist, "odd-couple" comedy, Itaru Bonnoki's The Vampire Dies In No Time follows the daily life of Draluc, a rather gentlemanly vampire who loves video games, and teasing his unlikely roommate, Ronaldo. Ronaldo is a world-renowned vampire hunter and author, who is constantly running away from his editor.

The two unlikely partners met when Ronaldo was hired to rescue a young boy Draluc had allegedly kidnaped from the vampire lord's manor. Despite rumors of Draluc's invincibility and unmatched power, Ronaldo quickly discovers Draluc isn't what he thought he would be -- as it turns out, Draluc is only "invincible" due to his unique ability to instantly regenerate after being turned to ash. Even worse, the boy Draluc had been accused of holding hostage is actually an unruly child who enjoys sneaking into Draluc's manor to play with his video game consoles.

As chaos ensues, Draluc's Gothic mansion is burned to the ground, ultimately landing him at Ronaldo's place, who has begrudgingly allowed the vampire lord to become his roommate. Considering how very different the two of them are, it's no surprise that the two of them end up becoming perfect partners.RELATED: Dorohedoro and Dai Dark: Q Hayashida’s Uniquely Dark Takes on Fantasy and Sci-fi

The Perfect Casual Anime For Halloween

The Vampire Dies In No Time is the perfect series for anime fans who need a palette cleanser this Halloween season, as its episodic story structure and star-studded voice cast with the talented Jun Fukuyama, best known as Lelouch from Code Geass as Draluc, and Makoto Furukawa, best known for his role as Miyuki Shirogane in Kaguya-Sama! Love Is War playing Ronaldo make this series an infectiously entertaining comedy that audiences won't need to stay too invested in to have a good time.

Aided by Studio MADHOUSE's charming visual flair, the anime adaptation of Bonnoki's original manga is an infectious romp best suited for fans of laid-back comedy series such as Konosuba and The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Plus, there's no better time to get invested in the comedy series, as The Vampire Dies In No Time will be receiving its second season beginning in January 2023.

The Vampire Dies In No Time is currently available on Funimation and Amazon Prime Video.
