Following the departure of Executive Editor Joe Illidge, Valiant Entertainment has promoted Editorial Director Robert Meyers to senior editorial director.

Joining Valiant as an intern in 2013, Meyers was named managing editor in 2016, before being promoted earlier this year to editorial director.

"Robert's been a tremendous leader with Valiant for years," Publisher Fred Pierce said in a statement. "He began as an intern several years ago and knows the Valiant Universe inside and out. His focus on character and story above everything else makes him the perfect person to further elevate Valiant's characters."

"I look forward to continuing to guide the Valiant Universe as we move toward 2019 and beyond," Meyers said in the announcement. "Valiant has an incredible universe of characters, incredible creators, and one of the best teams I've ever been a part of. The next two years are going to see us grow in new ways, while always keeping the focus on incredible storytelling. I'm honored to lead the extraordinary editorial team at Valiant."

Acquired in January by DMG Entertainment, Valiant's library of properties includes X-O Manowar, Bloodshot, Harbinger, Shadowman and Archer & Armstrong. Valiant and Sony Pictures entered a five-picture deal in 2015, with the first film Bloodshot, starring Vin Diesel, targeted for release in 2020.
