One of the greatest heroes in the Valiant Universe is ready for action, as X-O Manowar is slated to hit comic stands this fall in a new ongoing series.
Announced earlier today, the series will launch after the conclusion of the current title from writer Matt Kindt. The announcement comes with a new teaser image featuring the titular hero from artist Doug Braithwaite and colorist Diego Rodriguez.
In the image, X-O Manowar, whose real name is Aric of Dacia, kneels on the ground with a sword in hand, strands of energy emanating from it like bolts of lightning. Earth and the sun fill the background. In the upper-right corner, the series' title hangs in the air, while below, the word "unleashed" stands atop the release date of 2019, giving the image a very cinematic feel to it.
A staple of the Valiant Universe since 1992, X-O Manowar is one of Valiant Entertainment's most popular characters, and was the one to launch the rebooted universe in 2012 with a series from writer Robert Venditti, who would write a total of 50 issues -- 51 if you count Issue #0. The character has also been featured in the web series Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe and the video game Iron Man and X-O Manowar in Heavy Metal, which paired him up with the Armored Avenger.
No creative team, release month or plot details have been announced for the series as of yet.
