Joe Illidge, who joined Valiant Entertainment as Executive Editor in April, has parted ways with the company.

"I’ve had a lot of dynamic and provocative conversations the last few days – and am excited to be connecting with people who are truly ready to explore the deep and inherently powerful connections between character and culture in contemporary comics and other media," Illidge said in a statement. "Stay tuned!!"

Illidge's comic book career started in 1993 as an editor at Milestone Media, and in 1998, he joined DC Comics as an editor in the Batman line. From 2014 to 2016, he was a weekly columnist at CBR, first writing "The Color Barrier" and later "The Mission."

Just prior to Valiant, Illidge served as Senior Editor at Lion Forge Comics, where he oversaw the launch of the publisher's superhero line Catalyst Prime.

"In my new role as Executive Editor, I look forward to working with the great people here to lead the Valiant Universe of characters to the next evolutionary stage and unlocking the ideas that will further cement Valiant’s foothold in an industry of new growth areas and paradigm shifts," Illidge said when he joined Valiant. "With Vin Diesel about to embark on playing Bloodshot in the upcoming film and people like friend Reginald Hudlin on board to shape the story of Shadowman for a global audience, Valiant Entertainment is going to continue to be the provider of quality stories on a worldwide scale."
