Valiant Announces "Icons" Publishing Initiative & New Launches

Valiant Entertainment has announced plans to relaunch a number of its key superhero titles in the coming months, starting with a new "X-O Manowar" #1 by Matt Kindt and Tomas Fiorello, due to hit stores on March 22.

The news of the line-wide relaunch first surfaced at the ComicsPRO retailer conference held last week in Memphis, Tennessee, and has now been followed up with an official press release, accompanied by a piece of artwork by Brazilian illustrator and Valiant veteran Felipe Massafera.

Massafera's artwork features five key Valiant characters: "X-O Manowar's" Aric of Darcia, "Harbinger's" Faith Herbert, the eponymous Bloodshot, "Shadowman's" Jack Boniface and "Harbinger's" Toyo Harada, each appearing on successive letters that spell out the word "Icons."

The press release touts, "A New Dawn For Valiant's Greatest Heroes," before going on to list five specific titles: "X-O Manowar," "Faith," "Bloodshot," "Shadowman" and "Harbinger Wars 2," ahead of the line, "Beginning in 2017."

Many of the core character in the Valiant superhero universe, including X-O Manowar, are due to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their first appearances in 2017, and it now seems these multiple relaunches will lead in to a significant "Harbinger Wars 2" storyline that looks set to focus on the powerful Harbinger villain Toyo Harada.
