Syfy has revealed the first official teaser for is new comic book-based series Vagrant Queen, which is set to premiere on the network next year.

The teaser introduces viewers to Adriyan Rae's Elida, who finds herself confronted by a seemingly hostile alien. However, the alien soon reveals he simply believes he recognizes her from a karaoke bar. The clip then cuts to a short montage of Elida fighting, be it with or without a weapon.

It is at this point we're introduced to Tim Rozon's Isaac. "You are ridiculously badass," Isaac says of Elida. "And I'm, well, more personable. Pretty great team if you ask me." From there, on-screen text promises "new words" and "new villains" will be present in the new series, before Elida wraps things up with a, "Yippee-ki-yay."

Based on Vault Comics' Vagrant Queen by Magdalene Visaggio and Jason Smith, the Syfy series follows Elida, a scavenger who finds herself in some rather unsavory parts of the galaxy, all in an attempt to avoid the hit put out on her bloodline. The series' full synopsis can be found below.

Vagrant Queen follows Elida from child queen to orphaned outcast, as she scavenges the treacherous corners of the galaxy, always one step ahead of the Republic government out to extinguish her bloodline. When her old friend Isaac shows up claiming her mother Xevelyn is still alive, they head off with their new ally, Amae, to stage a rescue that will take her back into the perilous heart of her former kingdom and up against a deadly foe from her childhood, Commander Lazaro.

Helmed by showrunner Jem Garrard, Vagrant Queen is based on the Vault Comics series of the same name by Magdalene Visaggio and Jason Smith. The series stars Adriyan Rae, Tim Rozon and Paul du Toit. It is slated to premiere on Syfy in 2020.
