When Utopia aired British television starting in 2013, it earned massive critical acclaim for a mind-bending plot involving a group of individuals who discover the pages of an unpublished graphic novel that reveals a massive conspiracy.

While David Fincher and HBO unsuccessfully tried to adapt the series for American audiences a few years ago, Amazon Studios ordered a nine-episode adaption of the series for the streaming giant. Written by Gillian Flynn, the series will star Sasha Lane as the lead character, Jessica Hyde.

As Deadline noted today, Rainn Wilson will also join the series as Michael Sterns. While Wilson currently plays Harry Mudd on Star Trek: Discovery and famously played Dwight Schrute on The Office, the show will see him portray a virologist whose expertise comes in handy when a deadly flu outbreak draws him into Uropia's world of conspiracy.

The show will also feature Cory Michael Smith, according to another Deadline report. Smith, who portrays Edward Nigma/The Riddler on Gotham, will play another scientist named Thomas Christie, who's obsessed with obtaining the mysterious graphic novel for darker reasons.
