The United States Postal Service (USPS) is releasing a new collection of stamps celebrating the droids of Star Wars.

The 10 droids featured on the stamps include IG-11, R2-D2, K-2SO, D-O, L3-37, BB-8, C-3PO, a GNK (or Gonk) power droid, 2-1B surgical droid and C1-10P, which is commonly referred to as Chopper. The droids are set against famous backdrops such as the Cloud City and the deserts of Tatooine. An issuing date will be announced later this year.

"These set of droids are a nod to Lucasfilm's, as well as its parent company, Disney's, commitment to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) learning and the continued collaboration between 'Star Wars: Force for Change' and global pre-K-12 nonprofit organization 'FIRST' (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology)", the postal service said in the press release.

The droids of Star Wars have been a staple to the franchise, appearing as trusty sidekicks in all the major films and TV shows. However, Lucasfilm is currently developing A Droid Storyan animated Disney+ series that will put the spotlight on C-3PO, R2-D2 and various other robots from across the galaxy far, far away.
