Genre channel Syfy and cable network USA have teamed up with LGBTQ+ advocacy organization GLAAD to highlight and showcase the LGBTQ+ community for National Pride Month.

USA and Syfy President Chris McCumber spoke on the queer-friendly programming acting as a substitute for events during times of social distancing. “During a time when many Pride events have been canceled, SYFY and USA are offering viewers a place to celebrate and feel celebrated with specialty content in honor of National Pride Month,” he stated. “We are so grateful for GLAAD’s partnership and advocacy towards positive representation, and look forward to joining together to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community throughout June.”

Throughout the month, both channels will have original programming, marathons and podcasts geared towards highlighting the positive representation of the LGBTQ+ community. Syfy will air programming under its Syfy FANGRRLS banner with a series of Wynonna Earp marathons (Wed., June 3 from 6-9 am, Wed., June 10 from 6:30-9:30 am, Wed., June 17 from 6:30-9:30 am, Wed., June 24 from 6-10 am) and Xena: Warrior Princess marathons (Thurs., June 4 from 6:30-11:30 am, Thurs., June 11 from 6 am-12 pm, Thurs., June 18 from 6:30 am-12:30 pm, Thurs., June 25 from 6:30-11:30 am). USA will run marathons of Law and Order: SVU (hosted by SVU star B.D. Wong) (Sunday, June 7 from 9 am-11 pm) and Modern Family.

GLAAD mentioned the support both networks have shown the community over the years. “SYFY and USA each have long histories of sharing LGBTQ stories that entertain, enlighten, and inspire and this Pride month will bring empowering content and series to fans all over,” GLAAD CCO Rich Ferraro said. “During a Pride month when many LGBTQ community members will not be able to gather in-person, LGBTQ visibility matters more than ever and SYFY and USA’s content will help to ensure the spirit of Pride still shines bright.”
