UPDATE 9/30/2013 8:45 AM PT: Scott Lobdell has clarified his comments at Las Vegas Comic Expo after being contacted by CBR, stating he was joking during his response to the question. Lobdell is still writing "Teen Titans" and has not been fired from the book via text message or otherwise.

Scott Lobdell announced at Las Vegas Comic Expo 2013 that he had been fired from "Teen Titans" via text message over the weekend.

During the Las Vegas Comic Expo's Superman panel this weekend, writer Scott Lobdell announced he had been released from his duties as writer of "Teen Titans" by way of text message.

"I got a text this morning that I got fired from 'Teen Titans,'" Lobdell said in response to an audience question about his favorite series other than one he writes. He will continue as "Superman" ongoing writer, and did not state when his final issue of "Teen Titans" would hit stands, or even if it would continue following his exit. The DC Comics December solicitations currently list Lobdell as writer for "Teen Titans" #26.

Lobdell, who launched "Teen Titans" at the beginning of the New 52 alongside artist Brett Booth, was one of the few writers still working on the title they helped launch. "Teen Titans" is also the only book left in the Young Justice group of books following the cancellation of "Legion of Super-Heroes."

The "Teen Titans" writer's firing is the latest in a number of surprising exits from DC, including most recently creative team J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman leaving "Batwoman" due to editorial interference and subsequently getting their final arc of the series cut short by two issues.

CBR reached out to DC Comics representatives, who had no comment about the situation.
