Original story: Director Paul Feig has responded to the outcry from fans who feel there should be more female-centric merchandising for major genre films, after the lack of Black Widow and Rey toys for "The Avengers" films and "Star: Wars The Force Awakens," respectively. Feig confirmed that his female-led "Ghostbusters" flick will come along with plenty of female action figures. The upset among fans for the lack of female action figures has manifested in the #WheresRey, #WheresBlackWidow and #WheresGamora hashtags, which bring attention to the minimal merchandising for those key characters on Disney's part. Feig took to Twitter to hype the release of upcoming female "Ghostbusters" figures, featuring main cast members Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon, saying:

Fear not. Action figures of our Busters have already been in production for months. Several types & sold separately. https://t.co/ucW3xdaLWx

In addition to hyping Diamond Select, Funko and Mattel action figures for his "Ghostbusters" film -- which will include a set of 14 figures -- Feig instilled a lot of excitement by announcing LEGO tie-ins for the film:

Fun stuff coming from LEGO too. Just FYI. Sorry, bank account. https://t.co/qs1ZjVMXAX — Paul Feig (@paulfeig) January 7, 2016
