Unshelved Announces Pimp My Bookcart Contest

Official Press Release

SEATTLE, WA - - The much talked about contest that became the buzz of library and school communities in 2006 returns bigger and better as Unshelved announces the second PIMP MY BOOKCART contest, sponsored by Highsmith.

Inspired by an Unshelved strip, PIMP MY BOOKCART became an instant hit with over 100 entries competing for a variety of prizes. The overwhelming response to the contest virtually guaranteed its return.

Now Unshelved creators Bill Barnes & Gene Ambaum have partenered with Highsmith to offer even more prizes, including two brand-new bookcarts!

"Our last contest brought out the creative streak in so many librarians, teachers, and students. Now with Highsmith's generous help we are able to raise the stakes for contest participants. We can't wait to see what folks come up with." said Unshelved cartoonist Bill Barnes.

First-prize is a "Smith System Book Truck with Dividers," valued at over $300. If that wasn't cool enough, the winner of the PIMP MY BOOKCART contest will also receive a $250 gift certificate to the Unshelved Store!

There are also amazing prizes for second place winners and runners-up, plus Highsmith has generously promised that anyone who submits a bookcart to the 2007 PIMP MY BOOKCART contest will receive a 15% coupon good for Highsmith, Upstart and Upstart books!

Last year's winner "Pink Cadillac" by Katie George and the teens of the Miller Branch Library of Howard County Library in Ellicot City, MD will be on display at the Highsmith booth at the upcoming American Library Association annual conference in Washington D.C., June 23-26, 2007.

"Highsmith is very happy to partner with Unshelved and sponsor this contest," says John Wilson, Director of Marketing for Highsmith."It's a great program to draw teens into libraries and give them a cool, fun, and creative project to work on. We're looking forward to seeing all the great entries from around the country."
