In celebration of Immortals Fenyx Rising and its first expansion, A New God, Ubisoft has launched a crossover between the Greek mythology-inspired adventure game and its digital release of the classic card game UNO. Neither of these properties are strangers to crossovers, as Immortals has already received Adventure Time DLC and a Blood of Zeus quest, and UNO Ultimate Edition already features DLC based on Rabbids, Rayman and Just Dance.

Fenyx's Quest adds a new board based on the game's colorful world, themed cards and new mechanics. This puts a twist on the classic game that allows Fenyx to, once again, free the cursed gods from Typhon's Curse. Here's what players interested in the DLC should know.

In addition to looking like Immortals Fenyx Rising, UNO's latest DLC takes inspiration from that game's story and mechanics. At the beginning of each game of Fenyx's Quest, players are randomly assigned one of the four cursed gods: Aphrodite, Hephaistos, Athena or Ares. Each one starts out with their powers sealed, appearing as they do in Immortals before Fenyx frees them. However, by playing five cards, a player can free their respective god, earning their unique and powerful blessing as a passive effect. As with all things UNO, this can either be done relatively quickly or never come to fruition.

Aphrodite's blessing grants immunity to all damage from Typhon. Hephaistos allows you to discard all cards of a given color for every three cards you play. Discarded cards are not played, meaning that they do not effect other players or what cards can be played next. Athena allows her player to discard a random card when an opponent has to draw a card because they don't have a match. Finally, Ares' blessing lets you discard two cards of the same color when you play a card.

Meanwhile, Typhon is wreaking havoc on the board. Every time a player plays a card, part of the golden etching on the table will turn purple. Once the wheel is full, Typhon attacks, forcing everyone to draw a card with Typhon's Curse. These can be played like any other card, but you'll want to do so as fast as possible; if a card with Typhon's Curse is in your hand after you've taken your turn, it'll force you to draw a card.

Other cards unique to this mode are Typhon's Trick and Fenyx's Power. Typhon's Trick is sure to threaten some friendships, as it allows the player to choose another player, who must draw four cards, two of which are discarded at random. Fenyx's Power, fittingly, has a more positive effect for its user, allowing them to choose two of their cards to discard.

Fenyx's Quest's special cards and mechanics can promote distinct gameplay strategies, but the randomization of the blessings in each game means you shouldn't get too comfortable with just one in particular. You won't know until the game starts whether you'll eventually earn the favor of Aphrodite, Hephaistos, Athena or Ares, so it's good to understand how each one works. Of course, games of UNO are primarily about chaotic, friendship-threatening fun, so it's easy (and just as rewarding) for players to jump in and get used to the mechanics along the way.

Developed and published by Ubisoft, UNO's Fenyx Quest DLC is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S through backwards compatibility. It is also coming to Stadia soon. A copy was provided by the publisher.
