Although the comic book revival of Battle of the Planets is scheduled to rocket into stores this July, Top Cow's Universe #7, on sale now, features some of Alex Ross's sketches for the upcoming series. These sketches feature Ross's updated look for each of the main characters, new equipment and his notes to the rest of the art team.
"We've all erected our Alex Ross shrines here at Top Cow," says Marketing Director Frank Mastromauro. "Most of us were fans of Battle of the Planets already, but after seeing the work Alex and Wilson have done it's quickly become a studio favorite."
"Universe #7 will be a pivotal book in the long run for the Top Cow universe," says Editor-in-Chief David Wohl. "The preview is great for everyone to get a look at the upcoming Battle of the Planet series and the story within Universe itself sets the stage for events unraveling throughout Top Cow's line of books for the summer and fall."
Top Cow was founded in December of 1992 and currently publishes its line of comic books in 18 languages in over 55 different countries. The company has launched 18 original franchises in the industry's Top 10, six at #1, a feat accomplished by no other publisher in the last two decades. Its flagship franchise Witchblade was TNT's #1 original film of 2000 and is now in its second season as a television series for the network.
