Universal Pictures has bumped Kong: Skull Island from it's late 2016 date to spring 2017, Variety reports. The King Kong origin film, which hails from Legendary Pictures, will now tear into theaters on March 10, 2017.

Universal and Legendary initially announced the Nov. 4, 2016, release date for Skull Island at Comic-Con Internatioanl. The film will focus on a team of explorers, possibly headed up by leading man Tom Hiddleston, who trespass on King Kong's primordial island territory. Hiddleston joined the project in September.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) will direct the 3D adventure from a script written by John Gatins (Flight) and Max Borenstein (Godzilla). Vogt-Roberts joined the project after Joe Cornish and Guillermo del Toro's names were floated.
