Universal Delays The Dark Tower While It Tries To Trim Budget

Universal Pictures will delay the start of its ambitious adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower as it works with producers to try to cut costs on what will eventually be a movie trilogy and two interlocking TV miniseries, Deadline reports.

The first film, to be directed by Ron Howard, was originally set to begin production this summer; the new date is February 2012. The news comes just a week after a report that “budgetary complications” could lead Universal to allow Imagine Entertainment to shop the project to another studio, either as a partner or to take over the adaptation completely.
