Tom Holland filmed parts of Uncharted and Spider-Man: No Way Home at the same time but, according to director Ruben Fleischer, the actor never prioritized one role over the other.

"Yeah, there was overlap between the two, but the credit goes to Tom Holland, who's relentless in his commitment to the things he’s a part of," the Uncharted director said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "Whether it's Spidey or us, he would never compromise. He wanted Uncharted to be great, and he gave everything he possibly could to the movie. It was he who prioritized making sure that Uncharted be the best it possibly could be."

Spider-Man: No Way Home marked Holland's third appearance as Peter Parker in a solo Spider-Man movie, but his sixth appearance overall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after he debuted in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. He currently stars as Nathan Drake in Sony's live-action adaptation of Naughty Dog's Uncharted video games. The film follows a younger Drake as he embarks on a search for a lost pirate treasure alongside his ally/mentor Victor "Sully" Sullivan, portrayed by Mark Wahlberg.

Holland filmed both projects back to back, with production on Uncharted beginning in July 2020 and ending in October 2020; filming for Spider-Man: No Way Home began later that same month. In a recent interview, Holland stated that he almost had a burnout breakdown from this packed schedule. "There was a point in time where I had to make the call and say, 'Guys, I'm going to need a weekend because if not, I'm going to sort of fall apart,'" Holland said. "I got quite a nasty bit of tendinitis in my hamstring, which held me back quite a bit, but thankfully, that was more toward the end of the shoot."

However, the actor praised his strong relationship with Sony, which produced both Uncharted and No Way Home. "The studio was fantastic," he said. "They were incredibly helpful. They understood and recognized how hard I was working, and they gave me the time off that I needed." Almost a year before the release of both films, Holland stated that the action sequences for Uncharted surpassed the work he did for Spider-Man: No Way Home, and described the stunts he performed as Nathan Drake as "the biggest action sequences I've ever been a part of."

Fans can catch both Uncharted and Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters now.
