Tom Holland has hinted at when fans can expect the first footage of the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the video game franchise Uncharted.Holland released a simple tweet with the date "14/01/21" along with a winking smiley face emoticon. While it is entirely possible the star is teasing another of his future projects -- such as the untitled Spider-Man 3 or the Russo Brothers' adaptation of Nico Walker's novel Cherry -- it is more than likely in reference to Uncharted.RELATED: Netflix Will Release a New Movie Every Week of 2021

September 2020 saw the first set photos from Uncharted make their way online, which featured Holland and co-star Mark Wahlberg, who plays Holland's mentor Richard "Sully" Sullivan. Production on Uncharted wrapped up at the end of October 2020, with Mark Wahlberg posting a photo of Sully's shirt to mark the end of principal photography.

Created in 2007, the Uncharted video game series follows the adventures of Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter and thief descended from the explorer Sir Francis Drake. The franchise began with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on PlayStation 3, which has since been followed by three sequels and a prequel game titled Uncharted: Golden Abyss for PlayStation Vita in 2011. However, the Uncharted film will feature an "original story" that isn't based on any of the existing video games.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Uncharted stars Tom Holland and Wahlberg alongside Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle. The film is set to arrive in theaters on July 16, 2021.
