A segment of the trailer for Uncharted, the film adaption of the best-selling PlayStation game, was discovered online.

The footage, found on Twitter, predominately features Tom Holland as protagonist Nathan Drake and includes a variety of action sequences seemingly pulled from Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. Nate is seen dangling from a string of cargo boxes pouring out the back end of a plane, jumping and grappling his way to the storage hold. Mark Whalberg is briefly seen as Victor "Sully" Sullivan, Nathan Drake's mentor and best friend. No dialogue is featured beyond a quippy exchange between Holland and a Scottish henchman who threatens the perplexed treasure hunter.

The clip is low-quality and seemingly recorded from a laptop display. Beyond the identifiable scenes, it also confirms a release date for the Uncharted film: Feb. 18, 2022. The movie will release exclusively in theatres.

Little is currently known about Uncharted. The adaption will reportedly tell the origin story of Nathan Drake, potentially chronicling his first significant adventure. Some fans have expressed confusion regarding this as the leaked trailer features stunts seen in the third game in the franchise, which is set toward the tail end of Nate's career.

Uncharted is based on the incredibly popular video game series, first launched back in 2007 on the PlayStation 3. The franchise stars Nathan Drake, voiced by Nolan North, as an every-man treasure hunter swept into life-threatening adventures. While Holland may be playing Nate in the film adaption, that wasn't always the case. When development on the project started in 2008, reports indicated that Nathan Fillion was interested in playing the lead role. While Filion never made the cut, he did go on to star in a high-budget fan film alongside Stephen Lang as Sully.

If you're looking to catch up with the franchise before the Uncharted movie drops, the best way to play the original trilogy is through Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection on PlayStation 4. The bundle remasters the first three games in the franchise, updating them from their original outing on PlayStation 3. Nathan Drake's story was concluded in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End in 2016, which was released to widespread critical praise. A spin-off game, The Lost Legacy, launched in 2017.
