Multiple leaks paired with details released in the D23 games showcase announcement have many fans speculating a Fantastic Four AAA game is in the works.

Following the announcement of a first look reveal of Skydance New Media's upcoming AAA Marvel game, fans took note that the title was described as featuring an "ensemble." One fan took to Reddit, posting their theory that the "ensemble" refers to Marvel's first family based on this detail and previous leaks.

According to stormsgrimm, journalist Marc Bernardin had previously revealed that he was a writer on the new Marvel game while speaking with filmmaker Kevin Smith. Several fans commented in the chat, guessing at what characters might feature in the upcoming title. Smith noted that some had guessed correctly but would not elaborate further. Ben Hanson, a gaming industry insider, then commented on the video, stating that the "viable" guesses were Ant-Man and the Fantastic Four, with his bet on the latter. Between this and the rumor that Skydance New Media's game is an ensemble, stormsgrimm hypothesized that Hanson had been right.

Marvel and Skydance New Media announced their partnership in late 2021 on a new game, though neither gave definitive details about it. The Marvel title makes the developer's first game, with its second set to explore another significant Disney franchise -- Star Wars. Amy Hennig, who famously directed the first three Uncharted games and now acts as president for Skydance New Media, expressed her enthusiasm for the project when it was announced.

"I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game," said Hennig. "The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience. It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love."

D23 announced its lineup for the Disney & Marvel games showcase earlier this week. Along with the first look at Hennig's Marvel game, Disney plans to unveil glimpses at several titles by Disney & Pixar Games, Marvel Games, Lucasfilm Games and 20th Century Games. Some of these include new content from Disney Dreamlight Valley, Marvel’s Midnight Suns and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

D23's Disney & Marvel games showcase takes place on Sept. 9 at 1 PM PT and will livestream on its dedicated Twitter, Facebook and YouTube channels.
