Multiple Man gets the spotlight on the cover for Uncanny X-Men #2, the second chapter in the 10-part weekly "Disassembled" event.

The Leinil Frances Yu and Edgar Delgado cover is similar to the one released yesterday for Issue #1, but instead has Jamie Madrox and his duplicate clones in the place of Bishop, Nightcrawler, Psylocke (back in her Caucasian body), Storm, Jean Grey, X-23, Beast, Iceman, Jubilee and Cannonball. The story of how Madrox is back from the dead is currently being told in the Multiple Man miniseries by writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Andy MacDonald.

Writer Kelly Thompson, who will be co-writing Uncanny X-Men with Rosenberg and Ed Brisson, talked to Marvel.com about the task of working on a weekly series and how the collaborative writing process is going.

"I've done a co-write for Marvel before, but this is much more [about] three equal collaborators trying to come together to tell a great story," Thompson said. "And collaborating like that comes with a price -- there's a lot of compromise, which can be tough, but you also get the benefit of a lot of different ideas and experiences. Fortunately for me, Matt and Ed are not only terrific writers but two of my best friends in the industry, so it's been mostly a joy."

One of the highlights of working on an X-Men title is getting to write your favorite characters. But that doesn't mean Thompson isn't going to put them through the ringer.

"I wish I could say writers don't love putting characters we love through rough stuff... but I think that would be a bold-faced lie," she added. "[T]here's nothing I like more than making people laugh and fall in love and then really making them feel something and be moved - which sometimes means tragedy - and then making them laugh again. I think we've got a great emotional narrative at the heart of this event. One that I hope fans will respond to."

Uncanny X-Men #1 by Matthew Rosenberg, Kelly Thompson, Ed Brisson, Mahmud Asrar, R.B. Silva, Yildiray Cinar and Pere Perez goes on sale November 14.
