It's still unclear if the Sparrow Academy's members will be the main villains of The Umbrella Academy Season 3, per se. However, one thing is clear: the Sparrows and the Umbrella Academy are going to come to blows. "The last time we saw the Umbrella Academy, they had just stopped 1963's doomsday," an official synopsis for the new season reads. "Convinced they prevented the initial apocalypse and fixed this timeline for good, they return home to the present day. However, the celebration is short-lived when the crew realizes things aren’t exactly (okay, not at all) how they left them.

"Enter the Sparrow Academy," it continues. "About as warm as a sea of icebergs, the Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas in a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone's concerns. Navigating challenges, losses and surprises of their own -- and dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the universe -- the Umbrellas need to convince Dad's new family to help them put right what their arrival made wrong. Will they find a way back to their pre-apocalyptic lives in the upcoming season? Or is this new world about to reveal more than just a hiccup in the timeline?"

Based on the comic book series of the same name created and written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, Netflix's The Umbrella Academy dropped its first season in early 2019, with a second season following suit in mid 2020. Nearly two years later, Season 3 is finally slated to arrive on Wednesday, June 22.

Enigmatically introduced at the end of The Umbrella Academy Season 2, the Sparrow Academy -- a team almost identical to the Umbrella Academy -- was formed in an alternate timeline by a still-alive Sir Reginald Hargreeves. The Sparrow Academy consists of Marcus Hargreeves (Justin Cornwell), a still-alive version of Ben Hargreeves (Justin H. Min), Fei Hargreeves (Britne Oldford), Alphonso Hargreeves (Jake Epstein), Sloane Hargreeves (Genesis Rodriguez), Jayme Hargreeves (Cazzie David) and a psykronium cube known as Christopher Hargreeves.
