With time ticking down to the Friday release of The Umbrella Academy Season 2, Netflix has debuted a downright apocalyptic scene from the premiere.

The first season of the series, based on the Dark Horse comic by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba, concluded with the Hargreeves escaping the end of the world by fleeing through time, only to arrive in Season 2 in Dallas, scattered across the first three years of the Sixties.

In this scene from "Right Back Where We Started," Number Five (Aidan Gallagher) emerges alone on Nov. 25, 1963 -- three days after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy -- in a war-torn Dallas, as U.S. troops face off against Soviet forces. "What the hell did we do now?" Five asks ask he surveys the chaos around him. It's a logical question, considering the Umbrella Academy was responsible for the previous apocalypse, on April 1, 2019.

Removing any doubt about their involvement, Five is promptly joined by his black-clad siblings, who are engaged in what very well could be the final battle (or curtain, if we're take cues from Frank Sinatra's "My Way," which plays over the scene): Vanya (Ellen Page), in full control of her powers; Klaus (Robert Sheehan), backed by a platoon of ghostly soldiers; Luther (Tom Hooper), leaping through the air, Hulk-like, to shield his brother from enemy fire; Ben (Justin H. Min), unleashing tentacled, eldritch horrors; Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), wielding her mind-control ability in a gory new manner; and Diego (David Castañeda), taking out a half-dozen opponents with one impressive flip.

However, none of that is enough: Five makes a timely escape, with the help of a familiar face, even as his brothers and sisters watch the approaching nuclear missiles.

Granted, this is a scene from the Season 2 premiere. Therefore, we can safely assume this isn't the final curtain for the Umbrella Academy. The question remains, however, how the Hargreeves triggered this apocalypse, and to what lengths they will have to go to prevent it.

Five warned his family (so, so many times) that using his powers to escape from Vanya’s 2019 apocalypse was risky. Well, he was right - the time jump scatters the siblings in time in and around Dallas, Texas. Over a three-year period. Starting in 1960. Some, having been stuck in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they’re the only ones who survived. Five is the last to land, smack-dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which - spoiler alert! - turns out is a result of the group’s disruption of the timeline (déjà vu, anyone?). Now the Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse. All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins. But seriously, no pressure or anything.

Releasing Friday on Netflix, The Umbrella Academy Season 2 stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher and Justin H. Min, with Ritu Arya, Yusuf Gatewood, Marin Ireland and Colm Feore.
