The trailer introduces us to the main premise of the series, which is just like in the comic book's first volume, The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite: children with special abilities are born all over the world, and Sir Reginald Hargreeves adopts six of them to create the Umbrella Academy, a team of young superheroes.

Fast forward years later, and Hargreeves, the children's "father" is dead. Now, the adopted brothers and sisters are reunited, just as the coming threat of an apocalypse arrives. And they only have a very short amount of time before they can prevent it from happening.
