Season 3 will consist of 10 episodes and will feature returning cast members Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya and Colm Feore, as well as showrunner Steve Blackman.

Netflix's The Umbrella Academy centers on the Hargreeves' family. Vanya, Luther, Diego, Klaus, Allison, Five and Ben Hargreeves were adopted and raised by billionaire Reginald Hargreeves, the robot Grace Hargreeves and his assistant/creation, Pogo. After several years away from home -- in part due to the alienation they felt from their adopted father and the pressures of being known heroes -- the children are brought together once more after Reginald passes away. Soon after their father's passing, Five re-appears from his journey through time, warning the Hargreeves that it is up to them to prevent the end of the world.

In Season 2, the story evolved, sending the adopted heroes to travel through time in hopes to save humanity from the end of the world. However, their journey and arguable success inadvertently created The Sparrow Academy. Reginald and Ben are also seemingly resurrected in this newly created timeline, causing the original Umbrella Academy to wonder what role they have and/or how The Sparrow Academy will support them or try to defeat them.

Although no specific plot synopsis has been released yet for Season 3, the show's Twitter account shared series' stills of The Sparrow Academy and Ben less than a month from their announcement of a renewal suggesting that these new characters -- and Ben -- will be the driving force behind its new season.

Based on the comic series of the same name by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, The Umbrella Academy stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher and Justin H. Min, with Ritu Arya, Yusuf Gatewood, Marin Ireland, Jordan Claire Robbins, Kate Walsh and Colm Feore. Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix.
