The following contains spoilers for The Umbrella Academy Season 3, now streaming on Netflix.

Season 3 of The Umbrella Academy is, as the rest of the show is, about the end of the world. In this case that apocalypse takes the form of the Kugelblitz, a paradox caused by the Umbrellas meddling with the timeline back in 1963. Viktor's accidental empowering of Harlan causes him to lash out upon the death of his mother, killing them before they're even born. The resulting paradox threatens to engulf the entire universe, only growing hungrier and hungrier as the season goes on.

There's also the arrival of a new group of superhumans, as Reginald Hargreeves adopts a different group of six children in addition to Ben, both due to the Umbrellas' premature deaths and their poor impression upon him in 1963. He dubs them the Sparrow Academy, and they immediately clash with the Umbrella Academy upon their arrival in the new timeline. Tensions between the two groups only escalate as the season goes on, and deaths result both from direct conflict and the growing Kugelblitz. Here's every death in Season 3 of The Umbrella Academy.

Marcus

Marcus led the Sparrows in The Umbrella Academy

Marcus is the first casualty of the season, and likely why so many more follow. He acts as a stabilizing influence on the rest of the siblings, in contrast to Ben's brash arrogance. He's willing to negotiate with Viktor when approached at the beginning of the conflict between the two groups, if not in good faith then at least out of respect for the other Hargreeves' Earth-shattering power. It's possible the pair could even have worked some sort of deal out, but everything goes astray when Marcus discovers the Kugelblitz underneath the Academy. He touches the growing singularity and is instantly torn asunder.

Alphonso and Jayme

Jayme and Alphonso lying dead, their faces horribly burnt

Alphonso and Jayme aren't given much screen time or development throughout the season, in part because they die at the end of episode three when they show up alongside the rest of the Sparrows to attack the Umbrellas at Hotel Obsidian. They're initially successful, but step forward to press their advantage just as Harlan arrives, unleashing a blast of energy that knocks the rest of the Sparrows back, which instantly kills Alphonso and Jayme. They're victims of Harlan's power, but also of the season's bloated cast, which sees most of the Sparrows drop like flies.

Harlan

Harlan standing in the Hotel Obsidian lobby

Harlan is a central part of Season 3's jeopardy, responsible for the deaths of the Umbrella Academy's mothers before the season even begins. He bears this secret in silence when he's first introduced, but eventually lets it slip to both Viktor and Allison. Viktor is keen on helping him to hide it, but Allison sees Harlan's carelessness as responsible for her daughter Claire's nonexistence. She sells him out to the Sparrows at the first opportunity, killing him offscreen and offering up his corpse as a peace offering and recompense for Harlan's murder of Jaime and Alphonso.

Christopher and Fea

Fea reaching out to touch Christopher, her face lit by his blue glow

Christopher is the least-developed of the Sparrow Academy, even though he gets plenty more screen time than Alphonso or Jayme. That's because of his unintelligible speech, which seems to be understood by his siblings but is gibberish to the audience. The show's seventh episode gives him plenty of time in the spotlight, as he manages to contain the Kugelblitz with help from Sloane, Viktor and Lila. All seems to be going well, with the remaining Sparrows and Umbrellas throwing a party, until Christopher begins to shake uncontrollably. Fea tries to help him, but he shatters, with his sister as the first victim of the newly-released Kugelblitz.

Klaus

Klaus flinging himself across a room towards a white buffalo head as a wave of light approaches

Klaus dies many, many times throughout the season, and as it turns out, the entire show. He spends the majority of his time bonding with and helping Reginald Hargreeves, who returns the favor by helping him figure out his powers and their strange connection to the afterlife. Their primary discovery is that Klaus is immortal, with any death only sending him to "The Void" for a few minutes before his resurrection. His most notable death comes at the end of the season, when Reginald leaves him behind to be killed by the Kugelblitz, spurning the affection Klaus has shown for him.

Luther

Luther lying dead on a white rug, blood pooling out from above both of his shoulders

Luther's death is a shock, with Reginald Hargreeves running him through in the White Buffalo Suite. This murder is a part of Reginald's ultimate ploy, which involves convincing at least seven of the Umbrellas and/or Sparrows to follow him into Hotel Oblivion. All his methods of diplomacy fail, and he kills Luther only so that he can blame that death on the guardian of the hotel. Reginald's plan works, and Luther remains dead until the very end of the season, emerging into a new universe alongside his siblings. He's even restored to his original appearance thanks to Allison, who had some input into crafting the new timeline.
