As incredible as it may sound, Miles Morales will have starred in 250 single comic book issues by the time Miles Morales: Spider-Man #10 is released in September, and Marvel is celebrating the occasion with a major revelation: The return of the Ultimate Marvel Universe.
Written by Saladin Ahmed and illustrated by Javier Garron, the milestone issue will see the arrival of a new villain named Ultimatum who has control of the returning Ultimate Green Goblin. As Miles celebrates his birthday, the two villains set their sights on the teenage webslinger.
The advance plot description from Marvel and cover illustrated by Mahmud Asrar are below:
It's Miles' 250th solo issue! And just in time for the legacy number milestone, it’s Miles’ Birthday!
The Ultimate Universe comes back to haunt Miles... Who is Ultimatum and how does he have the Ultimate Green Goblin in his thrall?!
Miles Morales debuted in 2011's Ultimate Fallout #4 by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, replacing Peter Parker as Spider-Man after his predecessor died from a mortal gunshot wound. The Ultimate Marvel Universe came to an end in 2015's crossover comic event Secret Wars by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic with several of its prominent characters, including Miles, arriving in the main Marvel Universe.
While Marvel has hinted at the alternate reality's return, nothing has come of it. Now, however, it may be poised to return in a big way in September.
Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #10 is written by Saladin Ahmed and illustrated by Javier Garron. It is scheduled to go on sale this September by Marvel Comics.
