Ubisoft has confirmed that it will be showing gameplay of the upcoming Far Cry 6 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One soon, likely in a bid to learn from Cyberpunk 2077's mistakes.

Speaking to Video Games Chronicle, lead game designer on Far Cry 6, David Grivel, stated that Ubisoft is making an effort to show off the gameplay of the open-world shooter on last-gen hardware. This comes in the wake of the Cyberpunk 2077 controversy sparked when fans of the game accused developer CD Projekt Red of hiding the game's unstable performance on older consoles before it launched.

"As we go in the next few weeks and months, we’ll definitely start showing more on different platforms. What I can say, and I cannot go so much in details about specs or things like that, is that both on previous generation and the new Xbox Series and PS 5 generation, the game is running fine," said Grivel.

Ubisoft's dedication to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is possibly a result of anger expressed by fans regarding the "unplayable" state of Cyberpunk 2077 on older hardware. Developer CD Projekt Red is currently facing two class-action lawsuits, one of which highlights how the state of Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 and Xbox One was intentionally hidden from consumers.

Grivel continued on to say that while working on new-gen hardware is "really cool," older hardware has not been abandoned. "We’re really, really cautious about that, so we’ll show more detail and more info very soon. But yeah, we’ll care about all the platforms, both old gen [and] new gen..."

Ubisoft released the first gameplay trailer of Far Cry 6 on May 27 during a dedicated live stream. The trailer highlighted some of the game's more absurd elements, such as a crocodile in a t-shirt and a killer CD player, as well as more serious scenes featuring Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) as the game's antagonist, dictator Antón Castillo.

Far Cry 6 launches on Oct. 7 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
