Superstar writer James Tynion IV is braving outer space with artist Gary Frank to deliver an Alan Scott story in the Green Lantern 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular, and he was kind enough with whet our appetites with a few preview images.

The Joker War writer used his newsletter to share his excitement about working with Frank. "So how about the first four panels of my Green Lantern 80th Anniversary story, featuring Alan Scott, with art by the incomparable Gary Frank!" he wrote.

In the panels, Alan Scott is transfixed by flames as the perspective closes in on him. Then, a hand reaches out and grabs his shoulder. Presumably, this is a scene from Scott's origin where a green meteor fell to Earth and the power within it manifested as a green flame. It then was turned into a lantern that was made into the Power Ring which Scott would use to create green manifestations of his own.
