WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Euphoria Season 2.

Going into its Season 2 finale, HBO's Euphoria can pride itself on another major award: being one of Twitter's most-discussed programs.

According t0 Twitter, the Sam Levinson-directed teen drama is the "most-tweeted show of the decade" amongst American audiences, namely referring to the 2020s. While Euphoria debuted in 2019, its current season has produced over 30 million tweets, giving Season 2 a 51 percent increase over Season 1. It was also reported that the show's past three episodes -- "Stand Still Like the Hummingbird," "A Thousand Little Trees of Blood" and "The Theater and Its Double" ranked as Euphoria's most-tweeted episodes of all time.

Of the show's character roster, protagonist Rue Bennett (Zendaya), drug dealer Fezco (Angus Cloud) and romantic interest Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) received the most individual tweets. Fez specifically was featured in a number of shipping posts with theater star Lexi Howard (Maude Apatow) under the hashtag #FexiHive. Other notable Twitter trends involved highlighting female TV characters who would theoretically "end" Nate, or creating side-by-side contrasts between users and Lexi's older sister Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) for her sexualized appearance.

An adaptation of the Israeli miniseries of the same name, Euphoria follows a collection of Gen Z California high schoolers and the dark, often consequential decisions they make together. Since its debut, Euphoria has received both praise and criticism for how it portrays these dark themes, with Levinson's scripts and direction being a particular target of polarization. However, the show has also received its share of awards, with Zendaya becoming the youngest actor to win an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Emmy for her Season 1 performance as Rue.

Euphoria Season 2 debuted on Jan. 9, 2022, following a series of extended special episodes released during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic about Rue and her girlfriend Jules. A notable criticism of the season has been its lack of screen time for supporting character Kat Hernandez, who had a much larger role in Season 1.

This issue has been attributed to reported behind-the-scene drama between Levinson and actor Barbie Ferreira. However, details remain scarce. Also missing from the season is Algee Smith's Chris McKay, Cassie's former boyfriend who only appeared in Season 2's premiere before being written out.

The Season 2 finale of Euphoria aired on Feb. 27.
