A Twitch channel dedicated to streaming Morbius has been shut down.

The page in question, Morbius247, was shut down for violating Twitch's Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions. While it's unknown when the channel first started, over the course of its brief life it managed to acquire a few thousand followers. Many viewers spammed the chat with the phrase, "It's morbin' time" in reference to a popular meme associated with the Jared Leto-led superhero film. After its termination, several other channels were created, similarly streaming Morbius in its entirety.

Following Morbius' release on Digital and Blu-ray, fans were quick to poke fun at Sony's latest entire in its Spider-Man Universe. Many mocked the name of the titular character, joking that the Living Vampire "Morbed" his victims while others latched onto a scene of Lucien Crown (Matt Smitt) dancing. The film's official Reddit has similarly turned into a platform where fans share memes inspired by the movie, many of them incorporating the punchline of "It's Morbin' time."

Morbius premiered in early 2022 and was met with almost universally negative reviews from fans and critics alike. The film was panned for its dull story, awkward performances and lackluster special effects. Many audiences voiced frustration that many of the references to Spider-Man, which played a prominent role in Morbius' marketing campaign, were cut from the theatrical version of the movie.

Director Daniel Espinosa defended the decision to remove the more obvious nods to the Wall-Crawler, noting that it was just part of the filmmaking process. "I mean, it's funny, because when you do a movie of this sort, there are some people that make the trailer and then you make the movie and when you make a movie, you always cut out things," Espinosa said. The director clarified that everything kept in the film was intentional, stating "what's in the movie is what I thought should be in the movie."

Morbius chronicles the origin story of the titular Dr. Michael Morbius, a brilliant scientist plagued with a rare blood disease. In an attempt to cure his illness, he attempts to fuse his DNA with that of a vampire bat, turning him into a vampire. Fueled by a need to consume blood, Morbius must deal with the consequences of his gamble while also taking down his surrogate brother Lucien aka Milo, who similarly gains vampiric abilities.

Morbius is available on Digital now and releases on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on June 14.
