Twin Peaks fans eventually learned in Fire Walk With Me who killed Laura Palmer, but there were still more secrets left to reveal about the peculiar residents of the peculiar town. And before the series returns next year on Showtime, co-creator Mark Frost will catch up fans with The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks, a novel from Flatiron Books that also more fully explores Palmer's murder.

“This has long been a dream project of mine that will bring a whole other aspect of the world of Twin Peaks to life, for old fans and new," Frost said in a statement. "I couldn’t be more thrilled."

Secret Lives marks a return to prose for Twin Peaks. Scott Frost, Mark's brother, wrote The Autobiography of F.B.I. Special Agent Dale Cooper: My Life, My Tapes, which chronicled Kyle MacLachlan's character from his youth up until he was assigned the Laura Palmer case. Another book, penned by David Lynch's daughter Jennifer, was called The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer, and delved deeper into that characters life.
