Twilight Saga actor Kellan Lutz is set to star as Tarzan in a performance-capture 3D feature from Constantin Film, the production company behind the Resident Evil franchise, Heat Vision reports. Spencer Locke, perhaps best known as K-Mart from Resident Evil: Extinction and Resident Evil: Afterlife, has been cast as Jane.

Reinhard Klooss (Animals United) will direct from a script he co-wrote with Yoni Brenner and Jessica Postigo that updates Edgar Rice Burroughs' jungle hero, making him the son of billionaire adventurers who die in a plane crash. Jane is a conservationist and daughter of an African guide who teams with Tarzan to defeat the mercenary army employed by the villainous CEO of Greystoke Energies, the company once owned by the jungle lord's parents.

In addition to playing Emmett Cullen in the Twilight movies, the 27-year-old Lutz portrayed Poseidon in last year's Immortals. Locke, 20, has appeared on ABC's Cougar Town and Nickelodeon's Big Time Rush.
