Kevin Smith gave fans an update on his Twilight of the Mallrats script, saying the first draft is officially complete.On both Twitter and Facebook, Smith shared Twilight of the Mallrats' title page. "Thanks in part to the quarantine, I finally finished a funny first draft of “TWILIGHT OF THE MALLRATS”!" he wrote. "25 years after the original, Brodie Bruce will be back for an unnecessary sequel set against the Mallpocalypse."

In his Facebook post, Smith shared several elements about the upcoming film, including that most of the main cast is slated to return. "The Jay and Silent Bob stuff is some of my favorite conceptual comedy I’ve ever written but the whole script is silly, sentimental and sweet," he noted. "And at 98 pages, the story moves like a brakeless bullet train!" Smith also mentioned he would be speaking further about the script in a future episode of Silent Bob Speaks.

Released in 1995, Mallrats centers on two slackers trying to move on from breakups by spending a day at the mall. The film starred Jason Lee, Shannen Doherty, Jeremy London, Michael Rooker, Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith and Ben Affleck, and it even featured a cameo by comic book legend Stan Lee.

Written, directed by and starring Kevin Smith, Twilight of the Mallrats also stars Jason Lee, Jeremy London, Shannen Doherty, Claire Forlani, Jason Mewes, Joey Lauren Adams, Michael Rooker, Renée Humphrey, Ethan Suplee and Sven-Ole Thorsen. The film has yet to receive a release date.
