The first full-length trailer for The Walking Dead: Dead City has arrived ahead of the show's premiere in June.

Following the recent teaser trailer, AMC has now unveiled the official trailer for Dead City, which sees Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprise their roles as Maggie Greene and Negan, respectively, from The Walking Dead. The trailer sets up the duo's journey into the heart of a Walker-infested New York City as Maggie enlists her sworn enemy to help her rescue her son, Herschel. Negan has a connection with the leader of the raiding party responsible for the kidnapping, a fact the tough-as-nails mother wants to lean into.

Dead City is created by Eli Jorné. The limited series is slated to premiere on AMC on Sunday, June 18. It will run for a total of six episodes through July 23. AMC's official synopsis reads as follows: "The Walking Dead: Dead City envisions the popular Maggie and Negan characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror."

The Walking Dead Is Dead, Long Live The Walking Dead

Dead City will be the first Walking Dead spinoff to premiere following the conclusion of the mothership series, which wrapped up its 11-season run in November 2022. After Dead City airs this summer, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere on AMC later in 2023, followed by The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne in 2024. Like Dead City, both of these shows will consist of six episodes. Rick & Michonne in particular was initially being developed as a trilogy of Walking Dead feature films before being reworked into a limited series.

That said, Dead City will certainly not be the first Walking Dead spinoff overall. That honor belongs to Fear the Walking Dead, which premiered its first season on AMC in 2015, while the mothership series was in between Seasons 5 and 6. Fear is currently gearing up for its eighth and final season, which premieres in just a few days on May 14. Meanwhile, the two-season limited series The Walking Dead: World Beyond ran for a total of 20 episodes from October 2020 to December 2021. More recently, the spinoff anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead premiered in August 2022, running for six episodes through September 2022.
