Adult Swim will premiere the second season of Tuca & Bertie.

Tuca & Bertie will premiere Sunday, June 13 at 11:30 p.m. EST. The network also included a brief description of what the season has in store. Bertie will be "excavating her inner ghouls with the help of a therapist," while Tuca "prefers to stuff hers behind the toilet. She'll deal with them later, right now she's just too busy trying not to be single anymore!" Meanwhile, Speckle "is building a new house but soon finds he's driven to the brink of insanity...good thing he's just a cartoon."

Debuting on Netflix in 2019, Tuca & Bertie is a surreal comedy following the lives of two anthropomorphic birds: Tuca, an irresponsible party girl trying to adjust to a new sober lifestyle and Bertie, a reserved office worker whose neuroses and unresolved traumas stand in the way of her dreams of being a baker and her relationship with her well-meaning boyfriend, Speckle. The series was created by Lisa Hanawalt, who previously worked as production designer and producer for another Netflix adult animated series about sad talking animals, Bojack Horseman.

Despite receiving positive reviews upon its release, Tuca & Bertie was canceled after its ten-episode first season. However, in May 2020, Adult Swim announced it had purchased a 10-episode second season of the show. Hanawalt said of the announcement, "I’ve been a fan of Adult Swim shows since my teens, so I'm thrilled to bring my beloved fowl to the party and be a new voice for a fresh decade of absurd, irreverent, yet heartwarming adult animation."
