Hello and welcome to Shelf Porn. Today's collection comes from true-crime author and journalist Sean, who shares his and his wife's love of comics, art and professional wrestling.

Hi all, my name is Sean and I'm a journalist and true-crime author based in Australia. I'm a lifelong fan of comic books, cartoons, toys and professional wrestling, focused especially on Transformers, Spider-Man and Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner). Amassing a collection on the southern end of the planet hasn't always been the easiest task. It's become easier over the years thanks to the internet but, when I was a kid, finding those hard-to-get pieces involved a lot of phone calls, driving around, mail-order catalogues and international money orders (thank God for eBay and Paypal). International travel netted me some good loot, as well - the best of which is my Canadian-born wife, Justine. She's a comic book reader, science fiction devotee, wrestling fan and cosplayer. Over the course of our relationship, we've filled two of the three stories of our home with pop-culture goodness. Today, we'd like to share our collection with you.

The first thing you see when we enter our house is our downstairs "comic room", which is home to my army of Transformers, Justine's "girls who kick ass" shelves, and our mutual collection of comic books, artwork, DC and Marvel toys, wrestling memorabilia and other bits and pieces. It's also where I display original comic book pages by Darryl Banks, Tyler Kirkham and Brad Walker, as well as a Transformers UK comic signed by legendary scribe Simon Furman.

The shelf that's least complete is a sentimental favourite - my grandmother, who helped raise me, purchased the Star Wars Micro Collection toys for me in the 1980s by starting a marathon written correspondence with a Sears store in the US (the chain doesn't exist in Australia). They remain among my most treasured possessions, especially following her death late last year, and the shelf is a tribute to her.

The staircase leading up to the second level is our gallery of personalised stuff including a letter sent to me by Stan Lee (I wrote to him in the mid 1990s and, to my eternal gratitude, he was kind enough to respond) and convention sketches by Nicola Scott, Ethan Van Sciver, Brad Walker and Howard Chaykin. The idea is the gallery will expand with every convention we attend.

Our kitchen, dining area and living room are all on the second floor. This is where our DVDs, trade paperbacks, novels, hardcovers and coffee table books live. It's also home to our our statues, busts and maquettes. And, whenever I'm working on a story, Spider Jerusalem is always watching.
