Guardians of the Galaxy's Michael Rooker Lands Major True Detective Role

Guardians of the Galaxy and The Walking Dead star Michael Rooker has landed a crucial role in Season 3 of HBO's True Detective.

According to Vanity Fair, Rooker will sign on to play the mysterious and as-yet-named patriarch of the Hoyt Family, who, as of last night's Episode 6, "Hunters in the Dark," has now been implicated in the abduction of Lucy Purcell and death of her brother, Will, decades before.

HBO tried to keep the news under wraps until after the episode aired, but eagle-eyed fans were able to spot Rooker as the game-hunting billionaire and chicken industry magnate in pictures with the series' alleged corrupt cops. Seeing as Lucy's father, Tom (Scoot McNairy), wandered onto the Hoyt estate and found a soundproof room painted in pink that seems to be where kidnapped girls were held, Rooker's character will have a big role to play with two episodes left in the season.

Mahershala Ali's Wayne Hays, the lead investigator in the show, also revealed he had a discussion with Rooker's character in the past, which leaves fans even more excited to see these two figures cross paths regarding possible connections to the tragedy of the Purcell kids.
