Denis O’Hare, who stole virtually every scene of True Blood he was in last season, has signed on to the new FX horror pilot from Glee co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, Deadline reports.
Little is known about the project, called American Horror Story, beyond Falchuk’s pledge that the one-hour drama will “bring the horror genre to television but with our own subversive sensibilities.” It centers on a sensitive therapist named Ben Harmon and his wife Vivien (Connie Britton).
O’Hare will play Larry, whom Deadline notes is referred to as “Larry the burn guy.” It’s unknown whether the burn in question is literal or metaphorical.
American Horror Story is targeted for a fall debut on FX, which just this week renewed the drama Justified for a third season. The cable network also recently greenlit a pilot for Powers, based on the long-running comic series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming.
A Broadway veteran — he won a Tony Award in 2003 for Take Me Out — O’Hare played Russell Edgington, the vampire king of Mississippi, on the third season of True Blood. He also has a recurring role as Judge Charles Abernathy on The Good Wife.
