Rumors recently began swirling that Disney planned to move forward with active development on a third Tron film, a decade after the sci-fi franchise's previous cinematic installment, Tron: Legacy. What's more, it was believed that Jared Leto was being considered to star in the third film in an unknown role.

While these rumors remain unconfirmed, Leto has since shared his love for the franchise, with posters and images from the original 1982 film to commemorate its 38th anniversary.

While the post hardly confirms Leto's involvement with the franchise, the timing does lend credence to the rumors that he may be in consideration for a role in a potential third installment.

Released in 1982 and starring Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn/Clu and Bruce Boxleitner as Alan Bradley/Tron, Tron saw two programmers enter a video game world known as The Grid where they battled against evil programs while attempting to return home. A 2010 sequel followed Kevin's adult son Sam Flynn entering The Grid decades later to locate his missing father while preventing the sinister Clu 2 from staging an invasion of the real world.
