Trigun Stampede was first announced earlier this month by Crunchyroll, who will distribute the series. The show is being produced by Toho and animation studio Orange, a company that specializes in CG animation which is best known for its work on Netflix's hit BEASTARS. The panel revealed that the anime will star Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Vash. Matasuoka is best known for portraying Inosuke Hashibara in Demon Slayer. The anime will also star Digimon Adventure's Junya Ikeda as Knives Millions and veteran voice actor Maaya Sakamoto as Rem.

Nightow's original manga was first published and 1995. Set in a world that resembles America's wild west period, the series tells the story of Vash the Stampede, an infamous criminal who is said to have destroyed an entire city single-handedly. Two insurance agents, Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson, are tasked with following Vash around in order to minimize the collateral damage that he inflicts on the world around him, but are surprised to discover that the infamous "Humanoid Typhoon" is a goofy, laid-back pacifist who abhors the taking of human life.

Stampede will be the second adaption of Nightow's manga. The first Trigun anime premiered in 1998 and was produced by Madhouse, the studio behind classic anime such as Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D and Death Note. The anime was well-received and helped the series to achieve a strong cult following in the United States, where it was broadcast on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block in the early '00s. An animated movie, Trigun: Badlands Rumble, was released in 2010.

The original Trigun anime is available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The manga is published in English by Dark Horse Comics.
