WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 1 of Trese, now streaming on Netflix.

Alexandra Trese does her job as a paranormal investigator pretty well in Netflix's Trese, but there's a heavy toll taken on Manila. Throughout Season 1, she manages to work with various supernatural clans, as well as the military, to dispel the god of war, Talagbusao, but the journey's far from over. By the end of the season, she's finally embraced her role as Lakan -- a protector meant to keep the balance between the monster and human world -- but a new threat also arrives, teasing an enticing Season 2.

This happens in the post-credits of the finale. A couple of dockworkers in the city are suddenly abducted and devoured, throwing up blood all over the place. The anime then cuts to a shadowy figure on a rooftop, delighting in her feast. The mysterious woman simply says, "Trese!" indicating that she's coming for Alexandra, the last of her bloodline, and from how swift and powerful she is, this creature will be a handful.

From her clothing and hat, she appears to be a jiangshi -- a Chinese vampire-like creature -- with a vendetta. What we don't know is if she's working for a new boss or trying to revive the god of war. She could even be Alexandra's dead twin. The girl was killed by Alexandra's dad, Anton, and her soul turned into the family's blade, intending her to be a destroyer. But knowing Anton has his secrets, he might have found a way to keep her alive.

In addition, we also learned in the first season that Talagbusao was manipulating their fates. He could have had cults out there trying to bring the girl back, knowing she'd be Alexandra's equal. Alexandra will have to dig deep into Anton's past anyway because while he passed the baton to her, he also hid many truths and reshaped prophecies to ensure the Trese family would be seen as the linchpin of both realms. Alexandra still loves him but these lies created the accords for the creatures and their gangs to abide by. Seeing as Talagbusao exposed a civil war in the past, and almost created a new one in the present, Alexandra has to patch things up in a possible second season.

Trese also ends with a rift having emerged between mankind's cops. Some were possessed and used by Talagbusao's minions, some were human trafficked and sacrificed, while others were fed on. By discovering more of her past, Alexandra can heal the damage done for both sides and build trust to work with them against the new assassin. She's seen Nuno (the Earth Golem), Lektro (an electric-powered villain) and many others turn on humanity, but she now has Maliksi's horse clan and the Wind Twins to help make new accords.

Lastly, Alexandra will have to recruit new members after seeing Talagbusao corrupt his twin sons, the super-powered Kambal (Crispin & Basilio), aka her bodyguards. Hank was almost blown up while Captain Guerrero was killed by Talagbusao. She needs more hands-on-deck going forward, especially as she doesn't know what arsenal hew new enemy possesses. Manila is filled with creatures willing to betray the pact -- including Death's emissary, who is keen on manipulating her. Alexandra can't take anything for granted.

Talagbusao escaped mystical imprisonment once so not even her Fire Elemental, Santelmo might be enough anymore. This could even see her using the spirit realm to connect with her dead mom, Miranda, or other family members to chart a way forward. Hopefully, this and more of these story possibilities will be explored should Trese get another season.

Trese stars Shay Mitchell, Griffin Puatu, Nicole Scherzinger, Carlos Alazraqui, Manny Jacinto, Matt Yang King, Steve Blum, Eric Bauza, Darren Criss, Jon Jon Briones and Lou Diamond Phillips. Season 1 is streaming on Netflix.
